🧇🍗🍳🥓 Chick-fil-A Healthy Options: A Lighter Chicken & Waffles Sandwich
You don’t have to give up Chick-fil-A to eat healthier. Here’s proof.
Chick-fil-A just launched their new Chicken & Waffles Sandwich available as a breakfast and lunch item featuring maple-flavored waffles, a signature chicken filet, applewood smoked bacon, and honey butter, served with a side of syrup. It’s sweet, salty, craveable… and not exactly light.
So I decided to put it to the test: could I recreate the same craveable flavor at home, with a lot fewer calories? Here’s how it went.

The Original: Chick-fil-A Chicken & Waffles Sandwich (Lunch & Dinner Option)
is 710 calories with the syrup.
I tried the original lunch version, and it was good! I give it an 8.5/10. It’s genuinely delicious, but between the fried filet, honey butter, and syrup, the calories add up fast.
🧇🍗🍳🥓 How To Eat A Healthier Version Of Chick-fil-A Chicken And Waffle Sandwich
I wanted a version that kept the same sweet-and-savory flavor combo but trimmed the calories without sacrificing taste. Here’s what I swapped:
My Order For a Lighter Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich Includes ( 360 calories + 29g protein)…
- Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich with Grilled Filet (440 calories + 20g protein )
- Add egg whites + ( 30 calories)
- Add Colby Jack cheese + ( 80 calories)
Next:
- Remove 1 side of the waffle – (saves 160 calories)
- Use 1/2 of the syrup. – (saves 30 calories)
For ( 360 cals + 29g protein) chicken & waffles breakfast sandwich
OPTIONAL:
You could also order another grilled filet with an egg white and Colby Jack cheese to use the other half of the waffle and syrup as an additional meal or to share.
Calories: 360 calories + 29g protein vs. 710 calories for the original lunch version.
That’s a savings of 350 calories without losing the flavor that makes this sandwich so craveable in the first place.
The Verdict
I give my lighter version a 10/10. It hit all the same notes …
… sweet, savory, warm …
… but let me enjoy Chick-fil-A’s newest menu item without derailing my day.
